4/2/2023 0 Comments Rails steakhouse in towaco nj![]() ![]() My appetizer, based on burrata, was minimalist in its presentation, and the cheese was cold, which took away from the pleasure. Those who had salads seemed to think they were OK. It was hard to detect any excellence in training or pride in the place. The salads and appetizer took way too long to arrive, and were served with a lack of graciousness appropriate to a place that aspires to this stature. The server did not mention specials until my daughter asked if there were any, at which point she listed them off very quickly, and in the noise, you could barely make out what she said. I ordered an appetizer, and others ordered salads. My son-in-law's drink was not what he ordered, and had to be sent back and remade. The service was not attentive or appropriately classy for a restaurant of this purported level. It was very difficult to hear her in the ambient noise, but two of us ordered drinks, which took forever to arrive. We were seated at a large table with menus in place, and it took several minutes for a server to arrive. Even saw one guy in shorts, with his shirt unbuttoned and untucked so you could see his "wife-beater" t-shirt. It is just the opposite perhaps the noisiest restaurant I've ever been in, and a fair number of people in shorts and with their shirts out. I was hoping for a somewhat sedate, low-lighting, traditional kind of ambience. We arrived, and right from the start, it was not an enjoyable experience. Reviews were pretty high and menu seemed very appealing, so she booked it for us for Wed, Sept 27. I told my daughter I was hankering for a truly first rate steak house experience, and started to do a web search, and lo and behold, Rails was just a few miles from her house. We were planning a visit, and I had recently seen a TV show or two on the great steak houses like Peter Luger's and Smith and Wollensky. ![]() We are retired in Maine, and our daughter and family live near the restaurant in New Jersey. The boys were so funny also! We will definitely be back and we are requesting them again. The boys' service was diligent and constant without being overbearing and intrusive. They anticipated our every need before even having to request it. Our servers Joe and Anthony were incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, different steak cuts, and (my favorite) even recommended wine pairings best for our entrees. You won't get anything like it anywhere in North Jersey. Regarding the food, simply put its inimitable. The craftsmanship of all the wood and the three floor layout of the restaurant made our dining experience feel distinctively unique just by walking through the front door. ![]() The decor of the restaurant cannot be raved about enough. I cannot express enough how wonderful this restaurant is in terms of decor, deliciousness, and above all service - service. Hotels near (EWR) Newark Liberty Intl AirportĪfter extensive researching for a reputable steakhouse in North Jersey, I came across RAILS and decided it would be perfect for my boyfriend's birthday. In warmer months, the outdoor Vista Terrace is a wonderful location for a reception or a cocktail hour, offering front row views of the gorgeous surrounding scenery, eco-friendly blend of natural elements and luxurious interior design, and all have widescreen monitors for presentations.
